What to Do While You're Here |

Chateau Trails is located off Bayne Road in Kelsey, California. In the 1850's, Bayne was the main thoroughfare between Coloma where James Marshall discovered gold and the Georgetown Divide, a plateau mining center overlooking the forks of the American River. The story goes that Bayne had 12 saloons, 5 rooming houses and a brothel to service the miners in the area.
Today, Bayne is a beautiful back country road lined by oaks and pines with creeks weaving in and out both sides. If you brought your horses or love to hike or mountain bike, the possibilities are endless. You would probably be happy just to see all there is right here, but if you are going to stay longer than a weekend, there are so many fabulous trails nearby it will be hard to choose. Talk to Valeri about what you like best and she will steer you to the right places to go.
The Chateau Estate gardens have been featured in many local garden tours. In season you can schedule a garden tour during your stay. Spring and Fall are absolutely bursting with blossoms and color.

"What a fabulous place you have created. The cabin is perfect with so many different comforts. We slept like babies in our queen size bed, while the birds and deer were playing just outside our windows. The warm fireplace was so cozy while we watched the big flat screen T.V.There is so much to say about the whole environment, we just loved every bit of it. Thanks again so much, and we are looking forward to our next visit."Ed & Valerie Slater |
